Banff, Alberta, Canada
The Council of Graduate Schools co-hosted the first-ever Global Summit on Graduate Education, in Banff, Alberta, Canada in partnership with the Province of Alberta. The 27 participants, strategic leaders in graduate education from North America, Europe and the Pacific Rim, reached consensus on a set of principles to guide and strengthen international collaboration and advance graduate education globally through the sharing of best practices.

As the national advocate for graduate education, CGS serves as a resource for policymakers and others on issues concerning graduate education, research, and scholarship. Based in Washington, DC, the organization provides its members with regular updates and analyses of legislative and regulatory proposals and policies that affect graduate education.
