CGS serves the graduate community through a variety of initiatives focusing on issues affecting all aspects of graduate education. Programs include Best Practice initiatives and other projects and initiatives.
Best Practice Initiatives
Best Practice initiatives test solutions to address important issues and offer recommendations to improve the quality of graduate education. Funding received from foundations and corporations, such as the Ford Foundation, the Alfred P. Sloan Foundation, Pfizer Inc, the National Science Foundation and the Office of Research Integrity, allows CGS to make sub-awards, totaling several million dollars, to fund projects at member institutions.

CGS is actively engaged in a number of other programs and initiatives, many of which are provided or offered through support from or in conjunction with federal agencies, corporations and associations. As with the Best Practice Intitiatives, increasing the presence and ensuring the success of students from traditionally underrepresented groups in higher education is an intrinsic part of CGS programs and initiatives.
